Portland Chef Illustrations

I illustrated four chefs from Portland all of different restaurants for an email template run by FUN.org.
A main note the client wanted was the vibe of the email template to be inspired by the show "Portrlandia".

I got the idea of incorporating a regional reference for the theme. I put their heads on emblems to keep it quirky.

Illustrations weren't used but for the final version of the email but here are my illustrations and a sample of my comp.

Flyer Designs | Digital

Lately, I've been taking on some freelance jobs doing posters and flyer designs.
When I was a teenager, I volunteered in my church doing stage graphics and lighting. I realize now that what gives me inspiration when doing flyer designs usually comes from the creative process and appreciation that I gained working behind the scenes in the media department,

I usually take an approach that is high in contrast, energetic and evokes a mood leaning toward motion and excitement. My approach to this kind of work usually starts from knowing the event itself would be, and then I find myself feeding off of the energy of the plot and venue. I also find it is refreshing to have some sense of traditional drawing or painting quality in digital work and I have been searching to retain the appearance of the skill in my own digital works.

Check out my graphic design style on the latest flyers I've designed for my friend's Open Mic Events.

The Digital Me

Now a days everything involves technology. Interacting with someone via cell phone no longer means call and answer or even text. With all of the social media networks, something as simple as looking at candid photos that our networks post draws us even closer to their present condition. I went back at one of my popularly "liked" photos on instagram that I posted of myself and decided this one held my most familiar look. What I guess I hope is that what is expressed reflects the living, the true and the actual.

Can you feel the connection of the digital me?...
